12th May 2002: Harry Potter DVD Easter
Eggs
The Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone DVD's are selling
like hot cakes over here in the UK. Many stores have indeed
sold out just one day after its release. One of our readers
has sent in a couple of hidden easter eggs for the disc for
seven hidden clips. Take it away Ian,
There are two eggs on the Region 2 release of Harry Potter
and the Philosophers Stone. The first is on disc one - highlight
the owl above Hogwarts on the first menu, to be told about
whats on disc 2 !
To access the deleted scenes on disc 2, you need to first
go to Diagon Alley from the menu (there's a puzzle you need
to solve to get into there, but if you don't get it after
three goes , it lets you in anyway!). Go to Gringott's Bank
to get money, then to the wand-shop to get a wand. Now you
can go to the classrooms. Highlight the owls on the podium,
then the "H" that appears.
You now need to solve three puzzles. In the first , you select
the flute to get past the three headed dog, in the second
select the key right in the centre of the screen, at the back
- you'll see its the one whose wings are not flapping the
same as the others when the screen first appears. In the third
, the bottle to choose is the yellow one. (All these clues
are solvable from watching the film)
You will now be able to select the stone, and see the 7 extra
clips.

8th May 2002: Script Review Online For Burtons Big
Fish
The
Stax Report have posted a review of the script for Tim
Burton's next movie. The screenplay by John August (Charlie's
Angels 2, Go) is based upon the novel Big Fish: A Novel of
Mythic Proportions and is being developed by Columbia.
"Big Fish is about many things (life, death, love,
dreams, fathers and sons, reconciliation) but it's a particularly
compelling statement about the art of storytelling, about
"the power of myth" (to borrow a line from Bill
Moyers) and its ability to transport, enlighten and entertain
us. I look forward to seeing how Tim Burton will interpret
John August's script. Big Fish could end up being Burton's
most mature and thoughtful film yet". Full
review here.

Fi Wire that both he and writing partner Roland Emmerich
are working on a sequel to the 1996 mega hit Independence
Day.

to Independence Day," Devlin said. "I think we finally
found a story that we wanted to tell."
Devlin also commented that he would like to bring back as
many of the original cast members as possible.
"I like to think that hit movies are like a cocktail,
you know?" he said. "You want to try to get all
the ingredients back together again and try to get the same
mix. But we'll see. We'll see what we can get back. We'll
try to get everyone. We'll just have to see how it plays out."

Fi for the rest of the interview. More news on Independence
