Sequel to the 1999 blockbuster
that impressed critics and movie goers alike. There are no
confirmed plot details to be found anywhere at the moment
and only indeed the only news that is confirmed is the casting.
Keanu Reeves will return along with Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne
Moss and Hugo Weaving. Newcomers include Aaliyah (Romeo Must
Die, hit single Try Again and the upcoming Queen Of The Damned)
and Will Smith's missus Jada Pinkett-Smith (Scream 2). Reports
that both Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss have injured themselves
during intense training have come through too. Filming is
scheduled to begin at the end of March this year.

29th May 2002: The Matrix Reloaded
Update: "You [may] have seen some
really good freeway chase sequences in your day," declares
[second unit director] David Ellis, "but you haven't
seen one where guys are leaping from car to car and fighting
as they leap and doing all the Matrix stuff in the middle
of the car chase as well!"
The report above, from Sci
Fi Wire, includes an interview with The Matrix sequels
second unit director David Ellis. And he even went on to
say...
"And
Trinity [Carrie-Anne Moss] does some pretty amazing motorcycle
riding. It's going to be cool. ... Before they left [for
Australia], we saw some, like, 60 seconds of stuff, some
really quick things, but it's going to be cool. And those
guys [writers/directors Larry and Andy Wachowski] are so
talented and so hands-on and [involved with] every single
little minute detail that happens in the film."Check

27th May 2002: The Matrix Reloaded Update:
There has been more Matrix filming,
this time spotted in a tunnel. This from Dark
Horizons,
Trinity, Morpheus and a Chinese Guy where all present.
The scene we witnessed was of an old man (dressed in dark
brown clothes and with a beard - looked homeless) being
chased by a group of people including Trinity, Morpheus
and the Chinese Guy (cannot remember his name but he had
round dark glasses on). Trinity has a lot of hair gel and
is wearing a long leather coat. We were only able to stay
and watch for about 10 mins before we were kicked out by
security (they told us that the supervisor did not want
us their, and by state rail people to either get in a train
or leave).

There are a few spoilers in this report, so beware if you
don't want to know.....
Details about the further adventures of Neo have been
closely guarded, but we found some clues on the set in Sydney,
where the cast and crew have been working since September
and are expected to wrap this summer. On a remote corner
of a sound stage stand dozens of latex, life-size replicas
of the dastardly Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving), all in single
file. Why so many Smiths? Since the original film, Smith
has learned to replicate himself (he's a computer virus),
which means Neo will have to fight several Smiths at once.
Across
the stage, in front of the cameras and under the lights,
we find Reeves in his familiar uniform (long black coat,
dark shades) at the bottom of a crater being drenched by
a rainstorm manufactured by overhead sprinklers. Later,
drying off in his trailer, Reeves won't elaborate on that
particular shot (it takes place in a climactic battle scene
in part three), but he does give the following overview
of the trilogy: "The first one is about birth,"
says Reeves. "The second one is life; the third is
death." Thanks, Keanu.Full
report.
14/4/02 Moviehole
report that Rupert Reid, from TV's "Blue Heelers",
has joined the cast of The Matrix Reloaded.
"It's believed his role is of great importance to
the movies, but is being kept under wraps. Reid is believed
to have been signed for both films, but Reloaded having already
shot the majority of it's scenes - will probably only feature
him minutely".
Redi's contract apparently states that he isn't allowed to
talk about his character or involvement ib the two sequels.

Some news on The Matrix Revisited has
finally arrived after a dry couple of months. Firstly, the
official website is now up and running promising some really
cool stuff over the next couple of months or so. There are
some cool effects images, mainly that super explosion they
did in Sydney back in February and various blue screen stuff,
along with interviews and virtual tours. Check it out at WhatistheMatrix.com.
Cast news. The part of Zee, originally
to be played by the late Aaliyah, has gone to fellow singer
Nona Gaye. She will appear in both The Matrix Reloaded and
The Matrix Revolutions. You can
check out a pic of Nona here.
Lastly for today, it appears that we
may see an early trailer for The Matrix Reloaded before Attack
Of The Clones. The trailer will not be attached to the
print of AOTC, so whether or not you see it with the movie
will differ from cinema to cinema. Other films that are expected
to be shown before Epsiode II include The
Sin Eater, Men In Black 2, Like
Mike and Minority Report.
Star Wars, Episode II - Attack Of The Clones in released on
May 16th.

The official
website for The Matrix Reloaded is now up although there's
not a lot up there at the moment.
17/12/01 Dark Horizons
reports that the Irish Press are hinting that Irish singer
Samantha Mumba will take over the part that Aaliyah was to
play in bothe sequels.

An update. The Matrix Reloaded will
hit cinemas in the summer (probably May) of 2003 with The
Matrix 3 (Revolutions) just six months later in November.
Warner Brothers therefore have moved the third Harry Potter
movie to the summer of 2004 so that the films arn't competing
with each other. The Matrix Reloaded will be released at around
about the same time as Terminator 3: The RIse Of The machines,
of which, Warners have just aquired the domestic distribution
rights.
To update things since our last posting, R and B star Aaliyah
was tragically killed in an airplane crash at the end of August.
Her role in The Matrix sequels is thought to have been recast.
Joel SIlver was quoted in saying this at the time;
"We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy, Aaliyah's acting
career was just blossoming. She had remarkable talent and
charisma and great potential. The Wachowskis and I, as well
as the production executives at Warner Bros. Pictures, were
looking forward to working with her in the two Matrix films
as well as many other future projects. Her passing is a tremendous
loss. Our hearts go out to her loved ones."
In other sad news, actress Gloria Foster
who played The Oracle in the first movie, passed away at the
beginning of October. She was 64. The actress is thought to
have completed most of her work on Reloaded but had yet to
start The Matrix Revolutions. Again her part is to be recast.
Shooting re-starts in early 2002.

Bad news for 'Matrix' fans
everywhere!!!! Joel SIlver has been speaking on SciFi.com and states that The Matrix Reloaded
may not hit our screens until the summer of 2003.
"It's just it's an enormous
project," he said.
"It's a staggering project. There's so
much dealing with it, it's unbelievable, and they just need time to finish
both movies, because we're shooting them as one big movie. It's not back to
back. It's one movie, so they'll finish shooting it, and then they'll take
the time to finish the movies." (originally appeared at
SciFi.com)
31/7/01 It seems Beverley Hills 90210 star Luke Perry
is set to appear in the Matrix sequels as too is breakdancing star Reinen.
Their roles aren't known as of yet, but we'll keep you posted.
26/7/01 That Aaliyah has been talking about The
Matrix Reloaded again. this time with The Herald Sun. This time she gives a
little more away, "My character gets introduced in part two but has quite a
lot to do in part 3."
24/7/01 The
Matrix sequels are not commented on that much in
this
interview with Aaliyah with Time Magazine, but she does touch on the
subject and is worth a read.
26/6/01 Coming
Attractions have posted a set of pics taken aroung the San Francisco Posey

Update:
18/3/01: Dark
Horizons had the following submitted to them back last week."I live in
San Francisco, Ca, so I thought I would head over to the Alameda Point Navy
Base. This is where they are setting up to shoot the new Matrix. Well I can say
it's one long set, as we all know they are going to shoot some highway scene.
Well it's well over a mile in length. At one end is a overpass (west end) and
the other has a opening into the set. Looks like alot of work was going on
moving what looked to be railroad ties and some metal work. At one point a
motorcycle came and entered the set from the east end, it looked like a test of
sorts." Joel Silver himself also had something to say as he was interviewed
attending the premiere of Exit Wounds, "The scripts are so spectacular and
the boys [Andy and Larry Wachowski] are very specific, they don't let anyone
else see them because they don't to ruin the surprises. There are a lot of
surprises in this movie coming up. They're being careful about who reads them
and what they let out. [Regarding] all the activity, I don't know where [the
Internet is] getting it from, because there are very few scripts around. The
movies are going to be absolutely unbelievable - visual effects you cannot
believe, incredible characters, great story."
Update: 9/3/01:
Both Harold Perrineau (The Edge) and Daniel Bernhardt (Mortal Kombat
Annihilation) have been cast in the two Matrix sequels.
Update: 7/3/01:
Hugo Weaving held an interview with the New York Post about his involvement
with The Matrix sequels. Apprarently, each cast member that has been given a
script that has been printed on paper that cannot be photocopied. The script
has each cast memvers named plastered across it, so they can be easily traced.
Some actors still have not seen the script although there are just three weeks
to go until shooting is underway. "Even actors who've signed on haven't got
their scripts yet," Weaving says. "They know they're playing
such-and-such a role, but they don't know anything about it!" When asked if
he could let any secrets out about the films he replied "look, the plot
develops in a really fantastic, really interesting way. But I honestly can't
tell you anything more than that." Source:

Update
5/3/2001 Carrie Anne Moss, while doing the publicity rounds for the
upcoming stateside release of Memento said that she is off to San Francisco in
a weeks time. She said that she has had six months of intense training for the
two sequels that will be shot together. Production is due to continue at Fox's
