11/2/02 The Two Towers Updated
Sir Ian McKellan and Orlando bloom have
been chatting on London based radio station Capital FM about
having to go back for pick up shots for The Two Towers,
McKellan: "It's great that we have done these three films.
But I talked to Peter Jackson, the director of 'Lord Of The
Rings' the other day, and we are going to have to go back
because there are pick-ups to do, little extra shots. We were
also working in studios that weren't properly soundproofed
and so all the dialog had to be dubbed in the first film.
You can't tell, but it's true, and we're going to have to
do that with the other two films, so we haven't finished.
But the basic shooting is done".
Bloom: "I'm quite looking forward to going back for those
pick-ups. Really hard work - surfing, snowboarding, skydiving,
alongside filming 'Lord Of The Rings'".

2/1/02 The Two Towers Updated
An introduction to the film that will be the second in the
Lord Of The Rings trilogy, brought to the screen by New Zealander
Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema.
The Two Towers will see a few changes from that of the book.
For example, we already know that part of The Two Towers was
introduced at the end of Fellowship, in particular the final
battle. in The Two Towers, the roles of Rohan King Theoden
and his nephew Eomer have been extended and there is the introduction
of enemy warrior Lurtz. Jackson also says that the Battle
Of Helms Deep will blow moviegoers away, "It's the Uraki
vs. the elves and the men at Helms Deep, which is an old fort.
Let me just say it's very bloody." We're also told that
we will see a lot more of CGI character Gollum in the second
film. Another central theme will be the development of the
relationship between Arwen (Liv Tyler) and Aragorn (Viggo
Moretensen). "We'll actually see a lot more of this love
story develop in the second movie, but we have a great kiss
in this one...Arwen believes in her man so much that she gives
up part of her existence, but not her full existence. She
will do anything to spend time with him. Anyway, she has been
alive for 3,000 years. She'd rather spend a few short years
happy than eternity without love." Tyler told SunTimes
(also appeared at Coming
Soon). The fact that Tyler's character appears in the
film at all is a surprise as in the books, she doesn't appear
again until the Return Of The King.
Jackson has also spoken out about the title of the film, "It's
true that I've thought about what that title means now (between
the film and the September 11th tragedy). I just pray that
by the time the second movie comes out, it won't cause any
controversy. It's a 50-year-old book. We can't change the
title. Tolkien fans would crucify us." (appeared in the
Chicago Sun Times).
