There is a white dude called
The Man who together with his top henchmen Mr. Feather (Chris Kattan)
is trying to ruin a black candidate's presidential campaign in the action comedy
Undercover Brother. How you ask. By spiking fried chicken with a drug that turns
people into zombies. The first to get zapped is General Boutwell (Billy Dee Williams)
who had a very good chance of becoming the first black president until now. Its
very bad. Can you dig it. Something has to be done and fast.
But not to worry cause Undercover
Brother (Eddie Griffin) together with the secret good organization called the
B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D. are on the case.
Besides Undercover Brother,
the team consists of The Chief (Chi McBride), Sistah Girl (Aunjanue Ellis), Conspiracy
Brother (David Chappelle), Smart Brother (Gary Anthony Williams) and the white
intern Lance (Neil Patrick Harris). Say solid man and raise your fist in the air.
With their help, Undercover
Brother must trade his Afro and platforms to Khakis and go disguised as a geek
to infiltrate the enemy. It doesnt take long for Mr. Feather to discover
whats going on and to send White She Devil/Penelope Snow (Denise Richards)
to take care of him.
If you didnt get it
yet, Undercover Brother is a spoof on the 1970s Shaft type black exploitation
films and the disco music of that time brought to modern America. It is similar
to what Austin Powers did to the 1960s James Bond type films. Undercover
Brother even has James Bond type of gadgets.
The film makes fun of the
typical outrageous stereotypes such as the white man who cant dance and
the black man who prefers white girls.
Full of outrageous shtick
as Undercover Brother demonstrates his martial arts abilities, his skill with
women and his coolness. There is also a popping sound track that include such
artists as James Brown, Kool & The Gang, OJays, NSYNC, Mary J. Blige
and Rose Royce. Song titles include Say It Loud, Im Black And Im
Proud, Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker), Generals
Fried Chicken and Jungle Boogie.
If you are into really silly
and stupid comedies then you will probably find plenty to laugh about in Undercover
Brother. You might just get a super funk vibe out of it.
