Milla Jovovich has been talking to USA
Today about her role in the film.
"I said to my brother, 'If they ever make a movie
of this, I should be in it'," she tells the USA Today.
"I knew the game, I loved it, and I thought the girl
in the game was really cool."
She says that film has actually turned out to be pretty good,
"People who love the game are going to get really
into it because we've re-created scenes from the different
games. For people who haven't played the game, there are some
really intense moments that you wouldn't expect in see in
your typical schlocky game movie."

over at Aint
It Cool News.
"It's funny that the producers dropped Romero and went
with Anderson instead, since the movie plays very much like
a Romero homage. Most of the audience seemed to have fun with
it. I did. Didn't think it was great, just a fun, entertaining
action/horror flick". Full

Carlton TV show Movie Nights was screened
over here the other night and both Milla Jovovich and director
Paul Anderson gave interviews. When asked if the film was
very gory, like the game, Jovovich replied "Yes. If you
count having your mouth fall off, then it is gory!" "We are
doing our best to make it the most truthful, logical, believable,
exciting, violent, vicious, gross, disgusting, great film!
", she then went on to talk about he character in the film,
"I play Alice, who loses her memory at the beginning of
the film. Slowly throughout the film she is trying to regain
it and remember who she is and what she had to do with this.
I'll leave it at that!" Paul
Anderson had this to say about gore in the movie, "The
game does have a lot of blood and violence in it, but ultimately
what is good about the games is that they have really intriguing
story lines and are really frightening. That is odd for a
computer game where you are just looking at your TV screen
and, compared to film or TV, it is very low quality animation
that is clearly not real, yet you get so involved in it that
it becomes terrifying. I have been playing the game and screamed;
that is a real achievement for a game. I think we're trying
to make the movie as terrifying as possible and capture the
brooding menace that the game has."

Capcom, the people behind the
Resident Evil video game series have released a press release
regarding the movie adaptation. They announced that the film
would be released sometime in the early part of 2002 and not
Halloween as first expected. There is no mention of David
Boreanz in the press release at all. Hmm, anyway here's the
press release in full.
"Resident Evil: Ground Zero is written, produced and directed
by Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon, Mortal Kombat). The
horror-action thriller stars Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element,
The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc), Michelle Rodriguez
(Girlfight), Eric Mabius (Cruel Intentions), James Purefoy
(A Knight's Tale) and German actress, Heike Makatsch. The
movie is a Constantin Film production in cooperation with
Davis Film, New Legacy and Impact Pictures, produced by Bernd
Eichinger of Constantin Film, Samuel Hadida of Davis Film,
and Jeremy Bolt and Paul W.S. Anderson of Impact Pictures
Ltd. Intermedia (the company behind Harrison Ford's K:19)
handles international sales. Robert Kulzer, of Constantin
Film, Victor Hadida of Davis Film and Daniel Kletzky, president
of Entertainment Licensing Associates, serve as executive
producers. In addition to the film, a line of complimentary
fan and collector-based merchandise will be released throughout
the world, as well as a soundtrack."
"Production
began shooting on March 5, on location in and around Berlin
and on stage at Studio Berlin. The movie is an all-new story
inspired by the Resident Evil franchise. In Resident Evil:
Ground Zero, Alice (Milla Jovovich) and Rain (Michelle Rodriguez)
lead a crack team of commandos into ``The Hive,'' a vast underground
genetic research facility, where a deadly viral outbreak occurred
just hours earlier. The virus wiped out the entire research
staff and brought them back as ravenous undead. Alice has
only three hours to trap the virus inside the complex or the
undead are threatening to overrun the earth. To their horror
the team realizes that the undead humans are not the only
thing roaming the compound ...something even more insidious
seems to be going on there."

Constantin Films (from official press photos) Another great shot
from Resident Evil, this time of Michelle Rodriguez as 'Rain'. Also,
on Resident-Evil-Forum.de a memo
was posted in reference to the number of Resident Evil pics appeareing on the
web. It also states that there is a spy on set. Naughty people. Here's what the
memo said; '... Given the recent appearance of an unauthorized photograph
relating to Resident Evil on the internet, it seems necessary to bring to
everyone's immediate attention that an essential condition of your engagement
on this Production is the confidential nature of all matters relating to the
Film. There is huge public interest in Resident Evil, and for this reason the
circulation of unauthorised photographs, video recordings and information
related to the script, technical processes used in the film an the production
are strictly prhibited and if dicovered, would constitute gross
misconduct.' This fantastic German site dedicated to all things Resident
Evil also posted a digitised video of Michelle Rodriguez in what's probably a
make-up test shoot for the film,
check
it!!
11/5/01 Variety have reported that
Sony are going for the rights for Resident Evil to release under one of their
'labels'. The film is co-financed by Constantin Films and Intermedia and the
budget was estimated at $40 million. 8/5/01

Check out the three pics above from the film. I can't quite make out who is in
the one on the far left (it could be either Michelle Rodriguez or Milla
Jovovich), i'm pretty sure that Michelle Rodriguez is in the centre pic
battling more zombie and that's definately Milla on the right next to
'clapperboard'. 18/3/2001 -

Image (c) Constantin Films With things well underway
on the Resident Evil movie, the first pic has been posted on Constantin Films'
official website. Check out the fantastic pic of Milla Jovovich above. There's
just something about women and guns isn't there. A little background behind the
film. It was originally to be written and directed by horror legend and livivg
dead creator George A. Romero, but it wasn't to be and now Paul Anderson has
written the script and is directing too. Do not confuse Anderson with Paul
Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia). Paul Anderson is responsible for
movies like Event Horizon, Soldier and Shopping. On board cast wise is Angel's
David Boreanaz, The Fifth Element's Milla Jovovich (she will play Alice)and
Girlfight's Michelle Rodriguez who will play Rain.
