29th May 2002: Austin Powers In Goldmember Update:
The IMDB revealed a little more about Britney Spears' cameo in the upcoming Austin Powers In Goldmember movie. In it, Britney stars as a Fembot!

Britney attacks secret agent Austin - with her bulging bosom. Austin - played by Myers - wanders onto the set of one of Britney's music video's and discovers she is really a deadly "Femme Bot" robot. In the script, Britney even jokes about real-life rumors she has had a breast enlargement, quipping, "It's true, my breasts have been enhanced." Her nipples then open up to reveal machine guns, which she fires at Myers' character. A movie source told Britain's Daily Star tabloid, "Britney's breasts are the star of the show. The scene is hilarious. She reveals her rude side - and she isn't afraid to make fun of her own boobs." Britney isn't the only star to make cameo appearances in Goldmember - which hits cinema screens next month. Tom Cruise, Danny DeVito, Kevin Spacey, Ozzy Osbourne and Gwyneth Paltrow also purportedly make cameo appearances.

28th May 2002: Austin Powers In Goldmember Update:
Mindy Sterling, who plays Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers movies says that the third film, Austin Powers In Goldmember, will be the last. This appeared on Film Unlimited,

Austin Powers III will be the spoof sleuth's last outing, one of the actors has told the Chicago Sun-Times. Mindy Sterling who plays Frau Farbissina said "I'm told this is the last Austin film, but I certainly hope there are four, five, six and seven. These movies are so much fun." Sterling also revealed that the film centres around Austin's father, played by Michael Caine, being kidnapped by Dr Evil. "Austin's dad is also a babe magnet. Frau is actually turned on by him. I cannot say how far she goes or if it becomes a love triangle with Dr Evil," she said.

20th May 2002: Austin Powers In Goldmember Update:

Me in the film. This was printed in UK tabloid and apparently came from Knowles's own mouth, and i've also heard this from other sources. The scene to rival Felicity Shagwell and Fat Bastard's sex scene from the second film perhaps?

As reported last week, MGM and New Line have come to an agreement over the use of Goldmember in the third Austin Powers movie. New Line, who will distribute AP3 will release the film as Austin Powers In Goldmember, but all future movie's will have to seek MGM's approval before parodying more Bond titles. Austin Powers In Goldmember will no doubt carry at least one MGM trailer, probably Die Another Day, the 20th Bond movie.

It seems that New Line and MGM have almost agreed a deal on Austin Powers 3 having that controversial subtitle Goldmember. Variety reported today that, although no deal has of yet been placed, the two stufios are discussing the possiblity of New Line using the title in return for one of MGM's movies' trailers, possibly Die Another Day, being attached to Austin Powers 3 or indeed their 'big release' of the year Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers.upon their release. The trade also stated that even if the studio's came to an agreement, the final decision would be with the Broccoli family and Eon Productions, who own the Bond franchise. Not being allowed the title, New Line would have a serious problem on their hands as one of the films main character's is named Goldmeber (played by Mike Myers). The studio has already had to pull its first run of promo posters, pictured at the top of the page.

More trouble regarding the title 'Goldmember' in Austin Powers 3. MGM apparently offered to soffen their stance of the use of the title if New Line moved the release ate for John Q, due to open on February 15th alongside MGM's Hart's War starring Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell. New Line refused and now the third Austin Powers movie may have its release put back, that's if MGM sue them and if MGM win the case, all references to Goldmember will have to be removed, including the character named Goldmember. We'll have to see what happens.

New Line Cinema have withdrawn all of their online promotional material that bears Austin Powers In Goldmember. Hollywood studio MGM and Danjaq, the British company that controls the Bond film license, said that the title was too similar to 'Goldfinger'. They obtained a cease-and-desist order against New Line Cinema that prohibits New Line from calling the film Austin Powers in Goldmember. An MGM spokesperson commented, "MGM/UA and Danjaq have a zero-tolerance policy towards anyone who tries to trade in on the James Bond franchise without authorization," The question now is what will happen to the character of Goldmember in the movie? Mike Myers was to play the character along with Powers himslef, Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard.

It looks like Madonna will be doing a track for Austin Powers In Goldmember. She previousley recorded the song 'Beautiful Stranger' for Austin Powers' last movie outing, The Spy Who Shagged Me'. The Sun reports that the Queen Of Pop has cut the track in London last month.

Also, here are two great pics that have appeared online from New Line's Austin Powers In Goldmember. The first features Dr Evil and Mini Me in prison clothes (see bottom left) and the seconds is our first look at Beyonce Knowles as Foxy Cleopatra in the film (see bottom right).

IGN FIlmforce have posted a detailed plot outline for Austin Powers In Goldmember. Here it is.....

"Dr. Evil and Mini-Me (Verne Troyer returns) have somehow escaped from a maximum security prison. Subsequently, the duo teams up with the film's title character, Goldmember (described as mysterious yet peculiar). Together they formulate a plan for (what else) world domination. And this particular scheme requires 1) a considerable amount of time-travel, and 2) kidnapping Austin Powers' father, England's eminent master spy, Nigel Powers (Michael Caine). As Austin chases Dr. Evil, Mini-Me and Goldmember through time, he stops in 1975 to "connect" with an old girlfriend, detective Foxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles), and requests her assistance to track the villains and save his father". (appeared at IGN FilmForce).

The article also revealed that Michael Caine plays a character named Nigel Powers, yes Austin Powers father! He was previousley thought to play a character named Captain Hendricks.

Update, the release date for Austin Powers: Goldmember has been set for July 26th 2002, Mike Myers will play Austin Powers, Dr Evil, Fat Bastard and Goldmember, Heather Graham will pop us in a cameo and Jay Roach will return to direct. Also confirmed to be returning are Rob Lowe and Robert Wagner as Number 2, Verne Troyer as Mini-Me, Seth Green as Scott Evil, Mindy Sterling as Frau Farbisinna and Michael York as Basil Exposition. Michael Caine will play Royal Navy Captain Hendricks in the film and there have been rumours that Val Kilmer may appear as a villain too. Destiny's Child star Beyonce Knowles will also appear as the new Austin Powers girl. Another confirmation is that Britney Spears will cameo in the movie as herself.

The film will feature younger versions of all of the films key characters (in a flashback sequence) and there was a casting call from New Line back in October for people who look like Dr Evil, Powers, Number 2 and Basil.

A young actor named Josh Zuckerman, who has appeared in US TV shows Judging Amy, The Ellen Show and Once & Again will play a young Dr Evil. Check out IGN for a pic and the full story.

Shooting has indeed commenced. It started last Monday (26th November).

Some big Austin Powers 3 news has surfaced over the past few days. Michael York will return as Basil Exposition. He's the only confirmed actor, although Aint It Cool has recieved word that (SPOILER, mouse over to reveal) Tom Cruise has told Myers that he will cameo in the film. Aint It Cool also reported that the recently submitted second draft contained a part written specifically for Sean Connery, although the Scot still hasn't said whether he will appear in the film.

2/3/2001 - It was announced this week (February 28th 2001) that the third installment in the Austin Powers series will go ahead with shooting scheduled to start late this year. Mike Mysers is reported to be picking up $25 million up front along with 21% of the film's gross. It has been reported also that the film could be a prequel to the previous films with Sean Connery playing Powers' Dad and The Avengers' Honor Blackman playing his Mum. These are however, just rumours. Jay Roach, the original film's director is in talks to direct once again.
