Sandra Bullock will not be playing Wonder
Woman after all. The actress has been quoted from Liz Smith's
April 4 edition of her Page Six column (?) that 'the idea
of my doing Wonder Woman has bit the dust'. So there.
Meanwhile, Jordan Bayne from TV's "Poltergeist:
The Legacy" series may take the role instead. Moviehole
got the official word from the Bayne camp,
"I talked to Bayne's management this morning and they
confirmed that Bayne is under consideration. If she nabs it,
she will be indeed playing Wonder Woman. They want to get
someone unrecognizable to audiences apparently, so as not
to see an actress as wonder woman, but to see wonder woman
as a character, and apparently that's why bayne looks like
getting it".
Check out Jordan Bayne's official site at www.JordanBayne.com.

Producer Len Goldberg has been chatting
about the state of Wonder Woman to columnists Marilyn Beck
and Stacy Jenel Smith. "The first-draft screenplay wasn't
what we'd hoped," he said. "Now we're awaiting a
new story outline, and once that's approved, a writer should
have the script completed in two months or so." He went
on to reveal that Sandra Bullock will decide on whether to
take the lead role once she has read the final screenplay.

We received an anonymous email yesterday
that said that Sandra Bullock had been cast as Wonder Woman
after speaking with E! We haven't been able to check this
out yet, but it does look promising. The great new Super
Hero Hype site said this;
"We have a script, and we're in discussions with Sandra,
her representative and the studio," producer Leonard
Goldberg says. "We're discussing what changes need to
be made to the script so that we are all enthusiastic about
going forward." (thanks to SHH)
Wonder Woman is a movie project tha has been talked about
for many a year with many people rumoured to be attached to
the project to play Wonder Woman. Just some of the names rumoured
to have been involved are Shannon Elizabeth, Madonna, Mariah
Carey, Catherine Zeta Jones and a certain Sandra Bullock,
as you read through this expect her name to pop up a few times.
Wonder
Woman for those of us too young to remember the TV series
is basd on an Amazonian princess who comes to the States and
is a superhero. First up it was rumoured to be coming back
as a TV pilot but that fell through. It fell through mainly
because it was apparently trying to mine the same sort of
vein as Xena: Warrior Princess.
The
next rumour was that Ivan Reitman was attached to produce
and James R Hancock and Eve Marie Kazaros were hired to write
a script. The project was being developed at Warner Brothers,
which makes sense seeing as DC comics is owned by Warners.
Word
then moved onto Jon Peters being attached to the project,
with Reitman still attached but in the director's chair.
The
project then changed hands again this time going into Joel
Silver's hands. Word then was that Sandra Bullock was interested
in taking the role and that Ivan Reitman was off the project.
Jon Cohen was hired to write a screenplay. Cohen was involved
in the screenplay for Minority Report.
Rumours
then turned to Catherine Zeta Jones getting the role. Silver
Pictures denied this one as they said that the movie was in
early stages of production and too early to even think about
casting.
The
casting rumours then decided to choose Madonna as the next
candidate and Rush Hour director Brett Ratner as the director.
Silver Pictures refused to comment on that rumours.
In
the meantime Warners snapped up possible domain names that
could be used for the movie. http://www.wonderwomanmovie.com/,
http://www.wonderwomanthemovie.com/ and www.dianaprince.com
just in case they needed them.
Back
to casting rumours and then it turned to American Pie actress
Shannon Elizabeth to get talked about for the role. Word was
also circulating that original Wonder Woman TV actress Lynda
Carter was up for the role of Hippolyta the Amazon goddess.
Casting
rumours then turned back to Joel Silver saying he was in talks
with Sandra Bullock for the role.
Actress
Julie Strain then weighed into the casting, revealing that
"I auditioned for that Wonder Woman movie, and I know
I'm the best Wonder Woman, but I found out that Sandra Bullock
is playing that part. Its ridiculous -- you want to see someone
with long legs in that part. Its year 2000; loosen up and
hire someone that'll show their tits. But I'm the Wonder Woman
year 2000; I know it and everyone else knows it. I'll wear
stars and stripes and a G-string to the movie premiere, and
I'll show everyone who the real Wonder Woman is." Sounds
more like she was just trying to get publicity for herself
than their being any chance of her getting the part.
Back
to the casting and it was then rumoured that Mariah Carey
was thought to be getting the role. Thankfully this turned
out to be utterly false.
News
then turned to something a bit more concrete, a new writer
was hired, Todd Alcott, and his job was to rewrite the Jon
Cohen script.
And
back to the casting yet again with the news that WWF wrestler
Chyna had apparently accepted the role of Wonder Woman. Silver
Pictures rubbished that story completely and stuck to the
line that it was too early in the projects development for
casting.
Back
to Sandra Bullock again, with producer Michael Fleming announcing
"Sandy's interested, and we've met with her, it all depends
on the script and director, of course, but she hasn't done
anything this physical in a long time, and she'd like to.
We'd love to have her."
And
that is as far as things have gotten. Who knows what will
happen with this project!
